PARTY TALK:
How would you describe your sound in three words?
This is a tough one, haha. If three words could describe my music, I would say: Honest Music Storytelling.
What I find beautiful is not limiting myself to one single style. My purpose is always to blend genres within genres, from Progressive to Organic, House, Techno and beyond, in order to tell a story that people can feel or relate to.
Maybe I’ll choose a specific part of a track that makes sense in that moment of the story, followed by a carefully selected groove leading to a different climax. There are really no rules, and that’s beautiful.
What was the moment, place or track that made you want to become a DJ?
A place that strongly marked the beginning of my journey as a DJ in 2022 was Crew Hassan. That was where I first started to feel something growing inside me, this huge urge to learn how to play music and it was actually there that I started.
I’m grateful I was surrounded by people I consider true legends of Lisbon’s underground electronic music scene, such as John-E, Masta B, Miguel Torga, French and Jorge Martins. Some mentored me, others influenced me, and I’m grateful for being able to learn with artists and friends like these.
Underground Meco was also a project that touched my heart in many ways, from the resident artists to the crew and the international legends it welcomed, some of whom are true inspirations to me.
Still, I can say that my biggest inspirations are definitely local.
If I had to mention one old-school track from my selection that sparked the fire, it would be “One More Record” by LewRaz.
If your DJ set was a film scene, a drink, a mythical creature or a weather condition, what would it be?
As a mythical creature, it would be a Phoenix.
I have gone through deep, dark moments in life, as we all do, and I truly believe it was through music that I was reborn from the ashes and found my safe place. That is also what I try to express in my mixes.
As a drink, it would probably be orange juice, because Organic House is one of the genres I love the most.
As for a film, maybe Avatar, because I try to craft journeys that feel out of this planet.
Choosing just one weather condition is impossible, because my sets move through sunny and happy days, but also through darker ones.
What is your most unexpected influence outside music?
My friends.
I was always the kid of the group, because they were a lot older than me (don’t be mad, guys), It was with them that I started this journey through the underground, with a lot of respect, love and the essential factor of taking care of each other.
That journey eventually made me want to become a DJ.
What are you currently working on, and where can people hear or follow your music next?
I currently have two main platforms where I post my DJ sets: YouTube and SoundCloud.
I recently started a sort of podcast on YouTube called Honest Talks, where I vent it all out through music, and where I will also invite other artists to record their sets.
Besides that, I keep promoting myself on social media, reaching out to promoters, accepting invitations and showing my work in order to keep getting opportunities to make people dance, which is definitely my life goal.
I am also slowly starting to get into music production, but that is a story for later!
